Can we stop asking people “what are you going to do with THAT degree?” when someone tells you their major? This culture of doing something just for the endpoint is toxic. Education is for learning, and has always been about learning. The fact your qualified for a specific job after graduating is a plus, but not everyone wants to work in the field they got their degree in! Old school scholars were scholars because they were curious. They simply just wanted to learn and be educated. So let’s stop putting people down for what excites them in their education. Stop telling people their degree in art, literature, gender studies, ect. is worthless, because it’s not to them!! Getting an education is never worthless, and to say so is coming from a place of privilege!!
